Exxon Reports an $80,000 profit every second

Yes, ExxonMobile earned over $10,490,000,000 in profit last quarter.

That's $806,923,077 per week
That's $115,274,725 per day
That's $4,803,114 per hour
That's $80,052 per second

IN PROFIT!

They are whores. They should be returning this to the consumer at the pump, not pocketing it. Listen, I am a business man - and everyone deserves a profit - but at what cost? At whose cost?

Give some back, Exxon - show that you care about the people, even if it's just a little.

Kissing test: Would you be willing to do this?

Looking for a little something different for that Jack-o-lantern this year?

The Pumpkin Glow web site offers a couple dozen non-traditional pumpkin-carving patterns.

Download a PDF of a cartoon, comedian, celebrity or patriotic carving patterns to make your jack-o-lantern stand out from the crowd (Jay Leno pictured). Some of these patterns require a bit more carving skill than others, but the expertise level is conveniently noted inside the PDF. Got any pumpkin carving tips for those of us who are all thumbs? Post 'em up in the comments. — Gina Trapani

Mom and Dad, 50 something years of marital bliss

Reminds me of something Lou Holtz says: The key to true happiness is a bad memory.

Time Management

One crazy thing about time.  It can NEVER be controlled, it controls us.

Lately, it seems that there isn't enough time to do everything that needs to be done.  Things get pushed into tomorrow, and tomorrow until the next day.  This article gives a few good tips on how to manage your day.  I have a system that involves a journal of every meeting, thing to do, or client interaction.  I review it daily and act on what's most important or what will get me closer to making more money/hitting my goals.  Lately, I send a lot of text messages to my work email from the road when there is something that needs to be done next time I am in front of the computer.

(it's focused on realtors - but anyone can take something away from it)

Is Sex Necessary? - Forbes.com

I'm just quoting here:

"The study was designed to compare persons of comparable circumstances, age and health. Its findings, published in 1997 in the British Medical Journal, were that men who reported the highest frequency of orgasm enjoyed a death rate half that of the laggards."

Just the facts, Maam.  Just the facts.

T-Mobile attacks VOIP market

It's an unusual day when I am really fired up about a new technology by T-Mobile (of all companies). They have typically been a "me too" kind of mobile company. That is, until today.

Their new Cell Phone/Wi-Fi handset is a GENIUS step into stealing the younger and early adapter buyers. Here's how it works: It's a cell phone on the road and you simply use your minutes like any plan, but as soon as you are in the presence of a Wi-Fi hot spot: BAM! You are using unlimited minutes to any phone. Yeah.

For all of those people who have Vonage, Voice Wing, etc - they now get the best of both worlds in one handset. Genius.

Lets all wait and see how long it takes until the big red machine Verizon gets to this point. (don't hold your breath, but it will happen eventually)

What the hell is this?

The person with the best guess wins!!!!

Hint: It's not mechanical, it's something that can be found in nature. This photo is an extreme closeup of this thing. Truly spectacular!

Great Elevator Trick

In a hurry to get to the 17th floor on a crowded elevator? The iHacked web site says a simple (but impolite) key combination can make some elevators skip everyone else's floor and go straight to yours:

The only thing you need to do is press down the close door button, and the floor you would like to go to at the same time. This trick has worked on all the office elevators I have tried so far. I find it works the easiest on:
Otis Elevators
Dover Elevators
And Most Desert Elevators

I come from a long line of elevator experts (hi J&A!) so I'll have to confirm this with them, as California has a lot fewer elevators in tall buildings to test on. Ever given this trick a try? Let us know how it goes in the comments. — Gina Trapani lifehacker.com
