This is the first image ever taken of Earth from the surface of a planet beyond the Moon. It was taken by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit one hour before sunrise on the 63rd martian day, or sol, of its mission. The image is a mosaic of images taken by the rover's navigation camera showing a broad view of the sky, and an image taken by the rover's panoramic camera of Earth. The contrast in the panoramic camera image was increased two times to make Earth easier to see. Today is Paige's first day of school for this year. It's also her last year in pre school. I can't believe it!
Anyway, we took some pictures today before she went off to school and this is my favorite!

The peak of Haleakala volcano, at 10,023 feet (3055 m) above sealevel is the highest point on Maui, the third-highest point in the state and may be the "peak" of your experience at Haleakala National Park.
This was taken in July 2002 on our honeymoon. We will be heading back there this October for our 5th anniversary after my work trip.
